VAJEX Australia conducts wreath laying services on behalf of the Victorian Jewish and wider military communities. Both services are held on the Sundays after the actual designated dates.
Remembrance is an integral part of our Jewish tradition and we aim to honour the memories of our fallen so their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The Remembrance Commemoration Service is conducted at our new Obelisk and followed by Kosher Reception (by invitaion only). An entertaining and informative guest speaker is a highlight of the event.
People who have lost an ex-service family member in the last 12 months can dedicate a memorial web page on our website. This honours the memory and service of those who passed away after their military service had finished.
Our President, Marvin Bude or another representative, attend the funerals and consecrations of our ex-service members whenever possible. Families are contacted inviting them to have a Book of Remembrance page produced to honour the memory and service of the family member who passed away after their military service finished.

This moving service calls everyone to order with the sounding of the great shofar. Our Patrons lay a wreath in the shape of a Magen David made by Mrs Felix Sher, the mother of our fallen member PTE Gregory Sher who was killed in action in Afghanistan.
Banners with the names of Jewish Victorians who paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who returned and died after their service was over, are displayed during our service. The public show great interest and surprise that so many Jews were in the military and the banners attract a crowd.
Our association flag flies proudly in the Forecourt.
