Born 23 February 1885 Sydney, NSW. Son of Jacob & Emma STEINBERG (assumed name MALOR) 53 Cardwell Street, Adelaide, South Australia. Brother of 2218 PTE Isador Steinberg KIA 20/4/1916 France. Military Medal: 'On the 4th July, 1918, during the attack on HAMEL, Private STEINBERG maintained communication between Company and Battalion Headquarters throughout the whole operation, although continuously under heavy artillery fire. On two occasions his signal station was destroyed by enemy fire. obtaining further instruments, on each occasion he was successful in re-establishing his station.
