Notes
Born 1877 Reg No 1354 as Leslie Moss Menser. Sydney, NSW. Son of Morris MENSER & Rebecca (Rivkah bat Avraham) née CHAPMAN, 62 Mount Street, Coogee, New South Wales. Letter dated 11 July 1023: "Causes me to bring to mind, that my brother at the outbreak of war was in the Orange River Colony, South Africa and he was one of the loyalists who joined up immediately and fought in the rebellion and it was his command who smashed up De Wet on the setting up of the rebellion, his services were accepted again and he went through the whole of the German West African Campaign as Sergeant and was made Sergeant Major in the field, he refused a commission. After that was cleaned up he came back to Australia and joined the AIF and was killed in his first fight in France at Fleurbaix I believe. Yours faithfully, A A Menser." Brother Arthur Albert Menser (1864-1947)
