Born 29/3/1881 at Pleasant Creek, Stawell. Son of Solomon and Barbette Isaacson née Levy. Brother, Major Isador Isaacson, VD, 'Stawell', St Leonard's Avenue, St Kilda, Victoria. Husband of V388729 CAPT Lynka Caroline Isaacson. Father of W/CDR Peter Stuart Isaacson AM DFC AFC DFM. Arnold Isaacson was the first Australian soldier to be commissioned in the field of WWI. He was appointed aide-de-camp to General Sir William Birdwood. General Birdwood, General Sir Harry Chauvel and General Sir John Monash wrote letters commending his service. During WWII, he served again in the Volunteer Defence Corps.
