Notes
Born Warrnambool, Victoria. Military Medal - ' Prior to the attack on MT. ST. QUENTIN North of PERONNE on 1st September 1918 this soldier was wounded by a piece of shell but refused to be evacuated. During the operation he dressed wounded and put them in places of safety. Later when his Company attacked he went forward with them as there was only another man left in his Lewis Gun Section. On arrival at the objective he used his gun with very good effect and silenced two enemy machine guns. He was not evacuated until 48 hours after being wounded.'
