His name is not on the Historic Obelisk in Melbourne General Cemetery. Albert attested that he was Church of England. Son of Simon BENJAMIN & Mary Elizabeth BETTS married 21st May 1879 Reg No 2469 at Office of the Registrar of Marriages, Ballarat. Albert's mother died 2nd November 1944 Reg No 11327, Richmond Victoria age 82 and she is interred at Burwood Cemetery, Church of England 4 V section by Rev R Green, Methodist Minister. His father died 30th October 1884 Bellarine, Victoria and is interred next to his brother at the Old Ballarat Cemetery, Hebrew Section G. Maternal Grandparents: William Henry BETTS (1816-1886) & Mary Ivy née WARREN (1831-1913) married 20th September 1856 Church of England, Castlemaine, Victoria Reg No 2151. Maternal grandmother died 10 May 1913 Richmond, Victoria Reg No 7049. Albert's wife: Mrs Julia Louisa Benjamin née SIMPSON (1879-1974). Stepson: Sidney Frederick Thorneycroft. There was no minyan or notices in Jewish publications in Victoria. There is no evidence that he was Jewish. Rabbi’s decision: Ruled to not be Jewish. Therefore he is not to be on the list for future memorials.
